Cypress Top Historic Park

Cypress Top Historic Park is a little historic park located in the heart of the initial old Cypress Texas. The park and its turn of the century historical structures give visitors a feel for when the area acted as a railway junction in between Houston and Hempstead throughout the late 19th century. Cypress Top Historic Park is located in the heart of Cypress, TX at 26026 Hempstead Rd. The property is straight to the south of the Lowe’s Home Improvement Store at the southeast corner of the US Hwy-290 and Fry Rd crossway.

Cypress Top Historic Park is a 2.637 Acre Harris County Park devoted to education on the Cypress area’s abundant past as a popular layover for tourists between Hempstead & Houston throughout the late 19th & early 20th centuries. The park lies on property donated to Harris County by descendants of the initial owners of the site off Old Hempstead Hwy near Fry Rd. Visitors can enjoy a walk between authentic structures, including a family house, a service station, a railway depot, a general store, a barber store, a casino, a flour mill & storage shed, with trips supplied every Tuesday at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm.

In addition to the property, structures & home furnishings were contributed to the County. The Juergen Hall, a historic German casino, now acts as a Community Center using a wide range of unique events & programs ranging from exercise classes to child vaccination centers. The interior of the Hall serves as rather of a museum with historic images & products decorating all the walls. An old railroad depot is house to the Darline Roth Research Library run by the Cypress Historical Society. More contemporary centers consist of a restroom structure and an open picnic pavilion with a bbq pit.
