Lone Star College

Lone Star College – Kingwood, until 2007 Kingwood College (KC), is a community college in the Kingwood area of Houston, Texas, United States.

Lone Star College – Kingwood is a part of the Lone Star College System. In addition to the basic two-year degrees, the college offers a number of specializing training programs consisting of mentor, nursing, dental health, respiratory care, occupational treatment and computing programs. As of 2017 the campus has a total of nine structures.

It serves roughly 7,000 credited trainees and 3,000 noncredited trainees each semester. It uses a broad selection of life enrichment and continuing education classes in addition to the education programs.

Keeping up with the changing times and changing needs of the neighborhood, the college provides classes at satellite location along with online distance finding out classes. Beyond basic education classes, the college provides a number of community-based programs including: dual credit programs for high school trainees; a Community Fitness Center available to trainees, faculty, and the community; Discovery College, a summertime program for youth; as well as complimentary small business advancement workshops. History

The college was established in 1984 with 1,168 trainees.  In 2000 Mark Schone of Spin composed that in the Kingwood area LSC-Kingwood is known as a “13th grade” since many individuals from the area go to the school there. The name was altered in 2007 to highlight the existence of the college district.  6 structures of the college were impacted by flooding from Hurricane Harvey in 2017, with 95% of the library’s books damaged.
