How Much Does It Cost to Have Squirrels Removed From Your Attic?

The cost of having squirrels removed from your attic depends on what’s going on at your house, so there isn’t one flat price that fits every job. The biggest factors are how many squirrels there are and whether young are present, how many entry points need sealing, how much damage needs repair, whether attic insulation has to be replaced, and whether you want the whole house sealed or only the problem areas. Phone consultations are free, and most of the time we can identify the problem and give an accurate estimate over the phone.

What Goes Into the Price

Squirrel removal is more than setting a trap, and each part of the job can be bigger or smaller depending on the house. It starts with an inspection of the outside from the foundation to the peak of the roof and chimney, plus every attic space. Then comes humane trapping and removal of every squirrel, including any young. After that is cleanup of nest material, droppings and urine, with damaged attic insulation replaced where it’s needed, followed by repair of damaged soffits, fascia boards and roof openings. The last piece is exclusion work that seals every entry point so squirrels can’t get back in.

Full Exclusion vs. Partial Exclusion

Exclusion can cover the entire house or only the specific areas where squirrels are getting in. Full exclusion seals every potential entry point on the home. Partial exclusion covers only the areas we work on. We offer written warranties on exclusion work from one year to three years, and everything we seal, paint or fabricate is covered.

Materials and time are part of the price too. We close soft roof connections with 23 gauge aluminum bent on-site with a metal brake and painted to blend with the house, and we secure vents with hardware cloth and custom metal fabrication. Doing it right takes time. We’ve seen exclusion jobs rushed through in four hours that take at least half a day when they’re done correctly.

Why the Cheapest Fix Usually Costs More

A cheap fix that doesn’t hold usually ends up costing more. A handyman seals the hole with a squirrel still inside, and the squirrel chews its way out through the ceiling, which adds drywall work to the bill. A store-bought trap breaks, the squirrel gets out and learns to avoid traps, and it becomes much harder to catch. Spray foam gets brittle in Texas heat after about a year, and steel wool rusts and falls apart in a couple of months. Each of those means paying for the same problem twice.

So How Much Does It Cost to Have Squirrels Removed From Your Attic?

It depends on the number of squirrels, whether there are young, how many entry points need sealing, how much damage there is and whether attic insulation needs replacing. That’s why there’s no single price for every attic. A free phone consultation is usually enough for us to identify the problem and give you an accurate estimate.
